My previous Braun was the 7000 series that served me very well for years. I have always been partial to Braun and have never regretted it.
My new 8995 shaver is everything I expected it to be and then some.
My son has a Norelco and is always using the Braun. I wonder why!!!
I would highly recommend this shaver to anyone in the market for an electric shaver.

Best Electic Shave Ever - P. McWhorter -
I had an earlier version of the Braun, which finally wore out. I upgraded to this model, and have not been dissapointed. I have a heavy beard, and find this shaver gives a close and comfortable shave. Even if I skip a day, it still gives a quick and comfortable shave. I am VERY happy and think it was well worth the investment.
Not so good after a few years of use - Douglas Felt -
I purchased this shaver several years ago. For the first year or so I liked it a lot. I agree with most of the pros/cons of the other reviews, in brief, pro: close even shave, long battery life, cleaning stand is handy, can use corded or cordless, can clean manually; con: cleaning cycle is long and loud, shaver is loud (not so much at first, but more on this later).
But there are some downsides that you don’t see in the reviews.
* I get maybe 4-5 months of use out of a head. Some original reviews said they’d last a year. New heads cost a fair amount.
* The cleaning refills aren’t cheap. They last only about a month at best, and shipping costs are significant w.r.t the overall price of a package of three.
* The floating heads tend to come apart. They’re held in place by two black plastic pieces that fit on either side of the head. After a month of use or so, these tend to come off when the head is released. They aren’t so easy to fit back in, and tend to keep loosening. It becomes difficult to either cleanly release the head, or snap it fully back in.
And the main thing is, the older the razor gets, the shorter the life of the cleaning heads. They don’t fit as securely, and they tend to jam, and they start snagging on your beard or stalling, so you have to go really easy in order to ensure they keep cutting. So the overall life of the shaver doesn’t seem so great.
The end result is I pretty much have to replace this shaver after about three years. My previous shaver I had for over ten years, and while it didn’t shave as well initially, it shaved decently all of its life. Basically I only replaced it because the rotary heads were getting more and more difficult to find.
These are things you don’t appreciate until after a year or so of use. The reviews I had read before buying the shaver were from people who’d had the shaver a few weeks, and were pretty effusive. And I liked it too, when I first got it. But you need to keep in mind when reading the reviews that by and large, these are people who’ve been using an old shaver who are now using a new one.
So I can’t really recommend this shaver.
Clean and smooth shave - Gajendra -
great product and since newer versions of this product have been launched, its available cheap. This is my first time of using electric shaver, I had problem in shaving couple of time initially, now its performing great.
